Making Powder From Our Organic Shiitake Mushrooms
Dehydrating our Top Hat Shiitake Mushrooms to make Shiitake powder is a great way to add extra nutrients to any recipe. It’s simple and easy.
In a food dehydrator, place the Shiitake mushrooms on the trays. They can be touching, but must be in one single layer. This recipe can be created in bulk, so fill up your dehydrator with more than 6 oz of Shiitake mushrooms to yeild more powder.
Depending on your dehydrator, you may need to dry the mushrooms longer. In our dehydrator, it takes about 15 hours. Dry the mushrooms until there is no play or squish to the mushrooms. They will drastically shrink in size and the caps will be shriveled.
Once they are sufficiently dry, place them in a food processor and grind until a soft powder forms.
Store in an air tight container, like a glass jar.
